Children's Books, Editorial Work
It's been a very busy few weeks. Here are a few pieces that range from commissioned samples for an upcoming children's book, jobs for the Boston Globe, Huffington, The Spectator, and more. Thanks to the friendly art directors (some long time collaborators and some brand new clients) for the assignments.

ICON / New Work
New work! I spent the last week in Providence, R.I. having the time of my life at ICON7. I was honored to serve on the board for this conference - thanks to John Hendrix for nominating me.
The top image in this post was commissioned on the day of Maurice Sendak's passing. I was honored to draw it - he was a hero of mine. The client was The Washington Post.

Recent Work
As usual, I waited far too long to update this blog. Here are a slew of editorial drawings for many wonderful people- too many to name, but highlights include The Wall Street Journal, The Spectator, ADWEEK, Wake Forest University, Hanleywood, Dow Jones, and WIRED. I am happy to announce that I will be drawing three full seasons of posters for three different theatre companies this year- I will share that work when I can.

Society of Illustrators Exhibition
This poster, created last year for the lovely people at Thompson Creative, will be on display at the Museum of American Illustration in New York City, for the Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibition. I have had illustrations featured in this show numerous times and it is always an honor to have my work selected by the jury. The gala is great, as well, but I can't attend this year.

Happy New Year
The year started off nicely with some great assignments. I neglected to post my Poetry magazine cover a few months ago. Working for Poetry is a feather in my cap because of its rich history of illustrated covers. Thanks to all of the art directors and designers for these jobs.
This is my most recent cover for The Spectator. The cover story suggests that a possible side effect of the circus of the G.O.P. race is that it will make Obama more of a heavyweight contender in the presidential race.
My second eBook cover for Alicia Morga.
My first cover for Poetry. I couldn't be happier with this commission.
This illustration for The Wall Street Journal was for a funny story about food snobs. Apparently, a woman bought and cooked a $500 truffle for her husband, only to discover that he would have been happier eating a hot dog.
This is my first full-page illustration for the English magazine, Port.
Finally, a poster for the musical, Urinetown, for High Point University Theatre. I highly recommend seeing this show - it is very funny.
